Wikipedia News Source

I have read with interest a couple of recent blog posts on the media's use of Wikipedia as a source. With the enhanced scrutiny on reporters' accuracy, use of unidentified sources (i.e. Deepthroat), and scandals such as what has happened with the New York Times...the use of a source such as Wikipedia is fascinating. It also gives the "everyman" a voice in the media that they may not otherwise get. Very fascinating! The most recent example I've seen of this was in this morning's Orlando Sentinel where they quoted Wikipedia as the source for answers to questions posed on the front page of the Local & State section. These were part of a story on a 14 year-old student that is becoming known as a history expert.

It was on the Internet, so it must be true.
